A steep road takes us up the hill from Seathwaite village to a car park giving access to the fells. A short walk along the track takes us to the first ascend of Brown Pike, a moderate ascent over to Dow Crag with its cliff edge where many a climber can be found during the summer months. A short descent and sweeping right brings us to the slopes of the Old Man Coniston the iconic mountain in this area. A high route will take us to brim Fell keeping Seathwiate Tarn on our left to Grey Friars with a descent down to the dam, across the fells back to the car park.  This Lake District walk is moderate with most of the hard work done in the first half of the day.
