The Sty Head Round

Including Great Gable

Walks Lake District Sty Head Round

Walks Lake District guide this walk steeped in the slopes of the central massif, this walk includes some of the classic peaks.

The large National Trust car park at Seatoller is the starting point of this walk and heads out towards Glaramara where an ancient glacier carved out a deep combe. Once the height is gained, we head along the range to Esk Hause where there is a shelter, going down past sprinkling tarn and Styhead tarn. At the mountain rescue box, the ascent of Great Gable begins, staying on the steep ridge path to the summit, a quick descent before ascending the nearby Green Gable. Taking in a total of eight mountains this is a challenge, refreshments will be well earned at the end. This is a spectacular walk, if you wish for a great day in the Lakes. The scenery is amazing, obviously weather permitting.
